The 3rd Trans-Himalaya Communication and Social Development Forum in 2025
2025.11.07—2025.11.10
Kathmandu, Nepal

Amid unprecedented global changes, complex international dynamics, and escalating regional conflicts, adopting a global perspective has become vital for shaping neighboring diplomacy and building a community with a shared future. Countries of the Trans-Himalayan region are increasingly highlighting the importance of mutual support and joint progress.
The year 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of China-Nepal diplomatic relations and the 75th anniversary of China-India diplomatic relations. Historically, countries in Trans-Himalayan regions have shared close geographical ties, cultural affinities, and profound traditional friendships. In recent years, under the Belt and Road Initiative, countries in the region have fostered friendly and trust-based relations. However, critical challenges persist, such as climate change, biodiversity conservation, water resource management, poverty alleviation, and security issues. In this era of global turbulence, urgent priorities include strengthening regional communication and governance, proactively addressing complex challenges, and maintaining balance amid tensions.
To explore these challenges, the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Kangba TV (China), in collaboration with Tribhuvan University (Nepal), and Himalaya Television (Nepal), jointly invite scholars to the 3rd Trans-Himalaya Communication and Social Development Forum in Kathmandu, Nepal from November 7th to 10th, 2025. This forum will be centered on the theme of Digital Neighborhoods: Communication and Governance in the Trans-Himalayan Regions; this theme examines the construction of communication networks and governance cooperation among neighboring countries and regions in the digital era. It highlights digital collaboration in cross-border cultural communication, crisis response, and resource management among geographically proximate nations, aiming to advance the practice of a community with a shared future with neighboring countries.
The forum will facilitate interdisciplinary dialogues in journalism and communication, public administration, political science, history, etc. It is dedicated to jointly discussing the neighboring communication mechanisms and building consensus on neighboring governance.
We warmly invite experts, practitioners and young scholars from around the world to participate in this forum!
