On June 8th, the First Pan-Himalayan Communication Academic Forum, co-hosted by the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and Tribhuvan University, was opened at the Qingshuihe Campus of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. At the same time, Professor Shen Xiaorong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, announced the establishment of the Pan-Himalaya Communication Research Center. Professor Chen Changfeng, President of the Chinese Society of News History and Deputy Director of the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, Professor Ouyang Hongsheng, Vice President of the Chinese Colleges and Universities Film and Television Association, Professor Tang Zhigui, Dean of the School of Public Administration, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Liu Yaohui, Director of Kangba Tibetan Language Satellite, and Deng Shuming, Editor-in-Chief of News Circle, delivered speeches. The theme of this academic forum is "Transnational Communication and Social Development in the Pan-Himalayan Region", aiming to explore the frontier and hot issues of communication and social development in the Pan- Himalayan region under the background of the Belt and Road Initiative, and deepen the academic exchange and media cooperation among the countries in the Pan-Himalayan region.

Leaders and experts from China, India, Nepal, and Australia in the media industry showcased their latest research findings. Xiao Jun, deputy director of the Media Development Research Center at Wuhan University, Tenzin Tashi, vice president of Tibet Television, Wang Jun, vice president of Tibet People's Radio, Zhang Xiaoming, vice president of Lhasa Broadcasting Television, Dambar Shahu, the general manager of Tidasan TV in Nepal, Sarita Anand, a scholar from Delhi University in India, Guo Jianbin, a professor at Yunnan University, Tao Jijiao, a professor at Sichuan Normal University, Qi Yantao, a professor at Hainan University, and Zhang Xueqin, deputy director of the Party Propaganda Department at Sichuan Cultural Industry Vocational College, discussed in- depth topics such as cross-border communication and media cooperation in the Himalayan region, ethnic information dissemination and cultural identity, and the construction of a community of shared future in the Himalayan region under the Belt and Road Initiative. The center is mainly dedicated to studying theoretical and practical issues in the field of news and information dissemination in the Himalayan region, and building an academic research and media cooperation platform between countries in the Himalayan region to promote information, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges among countries in the region. Currently, with the support of the School of Public Administration at Electronic Science and Technology University, the center also provides the Electronic Science and Technology University Graduate Scholarship to students from relevant countries in the region and conducts short-term student exchange programs.
