The first Pan Himalayan Regional Communication Forum was held in the main building of the Qingshuihe Campus of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. The first topic was the information dissemination and cultural identity of cross-border ethnic groups in the Pan Himalayan region. The seminar was chaired by Professor Ouyang Hongsheng from Sichuan University.

For over 2000 years, official exchanges, monk visits, cultural exchanges, and integration have been the main contents of this region’s historical exchanges. In the context of the construction of the “the Belt and Road”, the development of information dissemination in the region should be improved in concept and practice: in concept, we should seek consensus, seek common ground while reserving differences; In practice, it is necessary to strengthen the collaboration and cooperation of mass media, and build a communication platform for the Pan Himalayan region through image festivals, co produced TV programs, documentaries, and other means.

Associate Professor Dahal introduced the changes that China’s initiative has brought to Nepal’s social development. As a catalyst, media, especially cross-border communication strategies, can play an important role in setting agendas for issues. China’s “the Belt and Road” strategy is a step-by-step step to promote the economic prosperity of the Nepalese people. He hopes to understand the relationship between cultural diversity and interconnected prosperity during Nepal’s economic transformation, so that the people can understand their social, cultural, and geopolitical sensitivities, in order to coordinate the relationship between society and ethnic groups.

Professor Bi Yantao stated that in the era of globalization 2.0, information dissemination has become one of the main driving forces for human development, and its value to the community with a shared future for mankind is just like blood to the human body. Communication scholars and practitioners should have a broad vision and take on the responsibility of assisting in shaping new international relations and building a community with a shared future. In related communication, they should adhere to the following six basic principles: respecting science, understanding the environment, being good at listening, revealing the truth, continuous response, and putting relationship first.
